Birr Equestrian Centre operates a trekking facility in the grounds of Kinnitty Castle. This gives visitors the opportunity to explore the undiscovered beauty of the Slieve Bloom Mountains, located in the heart of Ireland, while sitting comfortably on an experienced horse or pony.
The Slieve Bloom Mountains, renowned for their natural beauty and charisma, are characterised by a web of rivers, waterfalls, valleys, glens, woodlands and mountains. This entire area of upland moorland and forested glens has been declared an environmental park for recreation and conservation. With its quiet country roads, it is a haven of peace and relaxation for those wishing to holiday in an undisturbed environment.
No other trail ride offers such varied terrain. Trek high into the mountains. Gallop through valleys and glens. Navigate over bog land strewn with bog cotton and heather. Cross streams and meandering rivers. Gasp at the breath-taking scenery of Glendine Gap, Glenletter Valley and The Ridge of Capard. Experience these mist-filled amphitheatres where time has remained constant for centuries.
